Endorsed by
National
Forum on Children and Nature!
Wichita,
KS, (November 12, 2008).
The National Forum on Children and Nature today announced
their endorsement of the Pass It On - Outdoor Mentors program
as one of 30 projects nationwide that creatively reconnect
kids with nature, benefiting their overall health and appreciation
for the great outdoors. By endorsing this project, the Forum
celebrates its relevance, impact and sustainability. The Forum
seeks to raise visibility and support for endorsed projects.
Recognizing
an urgent need to reconnect kids with nature, the Forum sought
proposals from projects seeking endorsement—receiving
560 proposals. In a year-long process, advisory panels culled
the best ideas for investment in children’s health through
nature, tapping the tools of education, technology and a community’s
built environment. Ultimately, the Forum selected 30 projects,
based on relevance, impact, sustainability and potential for
success.
As
a demonstration project, Pass It On - Outdoor Mentors, Inc.
serves as an innovative model for community leaders, planners,
educators and others who understand the importance of reconnecting
children and nature and want to take concrete steps locally.
All 30 projects will appear on a website, www.forum-on-children-and-nature.org,
in the coming weeks.

Kansas Youth Turkey Hunt!
We
had 12 youths travel to Bell Wildlife Specialties for a spring
turkey hunt April 3-5. 7 of the 12, including 6 first-timers
harvested a bird. 2 were good for the record book: 1 scored
a 66 (weighing 23-3/4 lbs, with a 10" beard and 1-1/8"
spurs) and the other scoring a 68 (weighing 23-3/4 lbs, 10"
beard and 1-1/4" spurs). Here's a picture
of harvest with some smiling faces!
We'll
have more pictures and some video up soon!
Comments

I
received a nice email from a gentleman in Kansas City and
asked his permission to share a bit of it with you. Bart listened
to the Huntcast podcast we did a few weeks ago and wanted
to share his thoughts. I felt they were worth sharing with
